DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Wesley College split a tri-match at Delaware Valley, defeating the Aggies 3-1, but falling straight sets to Rutgers-Camden.
The Wolverines (5-26) opened the day against Rutgers-Camden, falling is straight sets. Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) and Kristen Roberts (Loveland, Colo./Middletown (Del.)) had six kills apiece to pace the offense, while Ax added 10 assists, 11 digs and four aces. Marissa Incitti (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) matched Ax with 11 digs, while Jacquelle Boone (New Plymouth, Idaho/Gem State Academy) netted five blocks.
Wesley rebounded against the hosts, taking the match in four behind a triple-double from Ax. The sophomore from Idaho tallied a dozen kills, 20 assists and 16 digs in the win. She also led the team with six aces. Roberts paced the club with 14 kills and served up five aces.
Boone added four aces and five blocks, while Lindsay DiMuzio (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) netted six blocks. The Wolverines back row, meanwhile, added three more players with double figure digs. Incitti turned in 27, followed by Kylie Shuba (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) with 20 and Samantha McCracken (Wilmington, Del./John Dickinson) chipped in with 14. McCracken also led the team with 22 assists.
The Wolverines travel to York (Pa.) on October 19.
