DOVER, Del. - Wesley College dropped its Capital Athletic Conference opener as Mary Washington took a 3-0 final from the Wolverines.
The Eagles jumped ahead 6-0 in the first set and cruised to a 25-15 win.
Wesley, however, came out firing in the second set and held an 18-10 lead. Mary Washington battled back and tied things at 19-19. After the Eagles went ahead 22-19, the Wolverines ran off three straight points tie it up at 22-22. Mary Washington answered back with three straight points to take the set.
The Wolverines pulled to within 23-19 in the third set before the Eagles put the match away.
Wesley travels to the Knights Invitational on September 16-17.
