Wolverines Can't Stop Blazers

FREDERICK, Md. - The Wesley College volleyball team dropped a three-set decision at Capital Athletic Conference rival Hood.

After dropping the first set 25-19, the second match went down to the wire, with the Blazer edging the Wolverines 25-23.  With a two set lead, Hood put the match away, 25-13.

Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) turned in a strong performance with seven kills, 15 assists and two blocks.  Alysha Brannan (Portland, Ore./Tigard) aslo had seven kills.  Jessica Taylor (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) paced the squad with eight digs.  Cristina Maruffo (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) dished out 12 assists and had three aces.

The Wolverines turned in stellar hitting performances in the first two matches with 25 kills and just three errors, before Hood shut down Wesley's hitting in the decisive third set.

Immaculata and Rowan visit Wentworth Gymnasium for a non-conference tri-match on October 1.
