Wolverines Swept at Tri-Match
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Wesley College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches during a tri-match at Washington College, falling to the Shorewomen and Goucher.
The Wolverines pushed Washington to four sets, but the Shorewomen ultimately picked up a 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-14 win.
Kristen Roberts (Loveland, Colo./Middletown (Del.)) led Wesley in the match with 11 kills and three aces and also had nine digs and two blocks. Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) had 22 assists, 17 digs and two blocks. Jacquelle Boone (New Plymouth, Idaho/Gem State Academy) had four blocks, while Stephanie Blakely (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) added a dozen digs.
Goucher then defeated Wesley in three sets, 25-13, 25-13, 25-21.
Roberts had a team-high four kills against the Gophers. Cristina Marruffo (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) had eight assists and five digs. Ax served up four aces. Boone had three blocks.
Wesley is back in action on October 15 in a tri-match at Cedar Crest with Cabrini.
