DOVER, Del. - Wesley College picked up its second straight win with a 3-1 victory over Bryn Athyn in non-conference volleyball.
After taking the first two sets 25-16 and 25-20, the Wolverines stumbled in set three. With the score tied at 22-22, the Lions ran off three straight points to push the match to a fourth set. Wesley, however, regrouped. Bryn Athyn led the set 10-9, but the Wolverines closed out the match with a 16-3 run to win 25-13.
Jessica Taylor (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) paced Wesley with 13 kills and three blocks. Kristen Roberts (Loveland, Colo./Middletown (Del.)) also reached double figures in kills with 11 and matched Taylor with seven digs three aces. Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) had nine kills and six aces. Cristina Marruffo (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) dished out 32 assists.
The Wolverines hit .339 in the match, while holding the Lions to .286. Kaitlyn Brock had a match-high 14 kills for Bryn Athyn.
Wesley looks for its third straight victory on October 19 with a road trip to Capital Athletic Conference rival Marymount (Va.).
