ARLINGTON, Va. - The Wesley College volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Marymount (Va.) on the road in Capital Athletic Conference play.
After the Saints took a close first set, 25-19, the two squads traded lopsided scores in the next two sets. Marymount won a 25-9 final in the second set, but the Wolverines hung tough and won 25-12 in the third set to stay alive in the match. The Saints regrouped, however, and put the match away with a 25-17 victory in the fourth set.
Kristen Roberts (Loveland, Colo./Middletown (Del.)) led Wesley with seven kills. Jessica Taylor (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) added six kills and four blocks. Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) had a well rounded match with five kills, 12 dis and three blocks. Cristina Marruffo (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) added 17 assists, three aces and seven digs.
Wesley returns to Wentworth Gymnasium for Senior Night against York (Pa.) on October 21 at 7:00 PM.
