DOVER, Del. - Wesley College fell in three sets to visiting York (Pa.) in three sets in a Capital Athletic Conference volleyball match.
The Spartans won a hard fought first match 25-21, then took a 25-16 score in the second set. In the third set, the Wolverines held a late 23-20 lead, but York came back to win 26-24 and end the match.
Sharis Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) led Wesley with eight kills. Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) had seven kills, 10 digs and three blocks in the match. Ashley Pierce (Sudlersville, Md./Queen Anne's County) had 16 digs, while Cristina Marruffo (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) dished out 19 assists.
Wesley will look for better luck when they travel to Penn State Abington on October 22 for a tri-match against the Nittany Lions and Gwynedd-Mercy.
