Volleyball Drops A Pair At Home

DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at Wentworth Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.  Opening the tri-match against Goucher, Wesley rallied from two sets down but fell in the deciding frame (25-13, 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 15-13).  Kean defeated the Wolverines, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) to close out the night.

After recording more errors than kills in the first two sets against the Gophers, Wesley (3-14) took the third set despite both teams hitting an identical percentage.  Wesley hit a match-high .176 in the fourth to tie the contest at two sets apiece, but Goucher rallied for a deciding set victory.

Lindsay DiMuzio recorded a team-high 14.0 points on six kills, four aces and five total blocks.  She also recorded 11 digs.  Meghan Marshall had a match-high 27 digs in the contest.

Against the Cougars, Jacquelle Boone led the Wolverines with eight points while recording six kills with no errors on ten swings.  She also tallied three total blocks (one solo).  Cristina Marruffo had a solid match with five kills with just one error, to go with 13 assists and six digs.  Marshall was steady as always with 12 digs.

The Wolverines are in the midst of a five-match homestand, with a Capital Athletic Conference date against Marymount next on September 25 at 7 pm.
