Volleyball’s Victorious on Senior Night

DOVER, Del. – Senior Cristina Marruffo led the Wesley volleyball team to a three-set (25-22, 25-15, 25-17) victory over Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday night at Wentworth Gymnasium.  The Wolverines move to 6-22 while the Griffins fall to 3-21 on the season.

Playing in her final home game, Marruffo tallied a team-high 10.0 points on four kills, five service aces and a pair of blocks.  She also quarterbacked the Wesley offense to a .149 hitting percentage on 15 assists.

Fellow seniors Alysha Brannon and Jacquelle Boone put up nearly identical numbers with three kills and a pair of blocks. Sharis Allen led the squad with five kills.

Defensively, Wesley held Gwynedd-Mercy to a -.013 hitting percentage. Meghan Marshall had a match-high 14 digs while Lindsay DiMuzio tallied five total blocks.

Marshall and Paige Morris both recorded three aces while Tatum Jones and Samantha Weber also collected a pair of aces.

The Wolverines close out their season on October 22, when they travel to Delaware Valley for a 7 pm start.
