DOVER, Del. – Lindsay DiMuzio recorded a season and match-high 12 kills to lead the Wesley College volleyball team to a four-set victory (15-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-18) over Bryn Athyn on Thursday night at Wentworth Gymnasium. The victory gives the Wolverines an 11-4 record, which ties them for their most wins in a season, while the Lions fall to 7-8.
A senior from Wilmington, Del., DiMuzio's 12 kills came on just 21 swings and two errors, accumulating to a .476 hitting percentage. DiMuzio also finished with an ace and a team-high five total blocks.
In large part to its 8.0 total team blocks, Wesley held Bryn Athyn to just a .016 hitting percentage. Ashley Klein and Tatum Jones were also credited with three blocks apiece. Meghan Marshall also led all players with 22 digs as Samantha Weber scooped 12 balls.
Marshall and Klein also did damage on the offensive end with three service aces each as the Wolverines tallied 11 for the match. Klein also quarterbacked the offense, assisting on 24 of Wesley's 28 kills.
Bryn Athyn took the first set after hitting a team-high .120 but only managed a -.010 hitting percentage for the final three sets.
Prior to the match, each Wolverine player was accompanied on the court by a staff or faculty member of their choosing for Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night, including Wesley College President Dr. William N. Johnston.
The Wolverines return to action when they participate in tri-match at Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, September 28. Wesley will first take on Arcadia at 12 pm before clashing with the host Griffins at 2 pm.
