FROSTBURG, Md. – Ashley Klein broke the Wesley College season record for both Service Aces, with five on the day, and Assists, 50 on the day, on Saturday afternoon but her efforts were not enough to defeat Frostburg State University or John Carroll.
The first match of the day was against CAC member, Frostburg. FSU took the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-19, but Wesley rallied to win the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-20. The final set was a nail-biter. The points were back and forth until the score reached 11-11 when the Bobcats made a three point run to take the game to match point. Wesley did their best to overcome but wound up falling by just two points in the fifth set.
Arnelle Akakpo had a double-double with 17 kills on 34 swings (.324) and 17 digs. Meghan Marshall continues her trajectory towards breaking her own Wesley season Dig record, adding 25 to her season total.
After the exhausting first match, Wesley fell to John Carroll in straight sets (25-13, 25-4, 25-17).
Wesley ended the day 15-10 overall, 1-4 CAC while Frostburg and John Carroll still had to play to round out the tri-match.
The Wolverines return to action in Wentworth Gymnasium on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00PM against CAC member Mary Washington.
