DOVER, Del. – With a match-high 21 digs, Meghan Marshall broke her own single-season record, but it was not enough as the Wesley College volleyball team fell in three sets (25-19, 25-22, 22-14) to Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington on Wednesday night at Wentworth Gymnasium. The Wolverines now stand at 15-11 overall and 1-5 in the CAC while the Eagles move to 14-8 and 4-1 in league play.
A sophomore from Wilmington, Del., Marshall now has 443 digs on the season, surpassing the 434 she recorded last year. Marshall is already just 57 digs away from surpassing Lilia Brekke's ('09) career record in the category.
On the offensive end, Ashley Klein recorded 26 assists with two aces, two kills and finished just one dig short of a double-double. Arnelle Akakpo and Lindsay DiMuzio had nine and eight kills, respectively, while recording just an identical four errors. DiMuzio also blocked four balls for a team-high 10.5 points.
Wesley returns to action on October 26 when it travels to St. Mary's for a 5:30 pm start.
