Abington, Pa. - The Wesley College women's volleyball team won three games at the Abington Quad Match on Saturday. The Wolverines defeated Arcadia 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 26-24), hosts Penn St. Abington 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-10) and Trinity 3-0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-16). The wolverines advance to 6-1 on the season.
Arnelle Akakpo had a team high eight kills in the first game while Tania Rounds had seven out of nine total attacks to lead the match with a .778 kill percentage. Meghan Marshall grabbed a game high 15 digs in the match. Beth Schlecker (19) and Codi Ziolkowski (16) assisted on all but two of the Wolverine's kills.
The second game of the day started off a little rocky for the team with a 13-25 defeat in the first set but the Wolverines rallied to win the next three against the Nittany Lions. Tatum Jones had a team high eight kills while Rounds again added seven to the team total.
Jessica Tynes had a game high eight kills on eight attempts for a perfect kill percentage in the final match of the day for the Wolverines. Samantha Weber and Tynes each had four service aces in the game while Schlecker added another 16 assists to her total for the day.
The Wolverines will face off against Goucher College in the teams home opener. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start in Wentworth Gym on Tuesday, September 9
