Wesley Earns Second Straight Sweep

TAKOMA PARK, Md. - The Wesley College volleyball team earned their second straight 3-0 victory, defeating Washington Adventist University on Sunday in the nation's capital.

Codi Ziolkowski led the Wolverines with eight kills and added two assists, an ace and a dig. Tionne Graves-Brown and Tania Rounds each recorded six kills. As a team, Wesley recorded 18 aces, with five from Rounds and Kristin Wissler and Beth Schlecker with four apiece. Schlecker had 21 assists as well.

Wesley was in good form on Sunday, hitting .476 in the first set and .400 in the third as well. The squad earned a 25-9 first set victory behind three kills and an ace by Rounds.

In the second set, Wesley took down a 25-13 victory. Meg Fernandez and Arnelle Akakpo each had two kills in the second. The Wolverines closed out the match with a 25-6 third set win.

Schlecker served up nine straight points to open the set and the Wolverines needed only five servers to earn the win.

Wesley improves to 10-5 on the season and has won six of their last seven matches. The Wolverines will host York (Pa.) in a Capital Athletic Conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
