DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College volleyball team fought valiantly, but struggled to generate offense against a talented Salisbury lineup, falling 3-0 against the Seagulls on Wednesday night at Wentworth Gym.
Codi Ziolkowski and Tionne Graves-Brown each registed four kills to combine for over half of the team's 14 total kills on the night. Samantha Weber and Beth Schlecker each recorded a team-high six digs while Kristin Wissler finished with a pair of service aces.
The Wolverines came out of the gates even with Salisbury, beginning the first two sets with tight scores. In the first, the Wolverines were within one point at 7-6 before the Gulls pulled away to a 25-10 win. The second set, the Wolverines were tied with their opponent at 8-8 but Salisbury earned a 25-13 victory. In the third, the Seagulls rattled off seven of the first eight points to jump out to a lead and held it for a 25-9 victory and the sweep.
Wesley moves to 11-10 on the season with a 1-4 mark against Capital Athletic Conference opponents. The squad will return to action on Sunday, October 18 with a matchup against non-conference opponent Washington Adventist.
