NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Wesley College volleyball team battled in three sets, but ultimately fell 3-0 to Capital Athletic Conference foe Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night on the Virginia coast.

Tionne Graves-Brown led the team with five kills while Arnelle Akakpo and Charlene Coyne each tallied three kills. Graves-Brown also led the team with nine digs while Samantha Weber, Kristin Wissler and Akakpo each recorded five. Juanita Petty led the team defensively with a pair of solo blocks.

The Wolverines held very early leads in each of the three sets, but the Captains proved too much for the Wesley squad to handle as the home team rattled off victories of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-12.

Wesley moves to 12-16 on the season with a 1-7 record in CAC play. The squad will take part in its season finale on Saturday, October 31 when they play host to Southern Virginia.
