DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Volleyball team used a dynamic, widespread attack to earn a 3-0 sweep of Rosemont College on Tuesday night at Wentworth Gymnasium.
Eight different Wolverines registered at least one kill, with Jessica Tynes leading the way with nine. Codi Ziolkowski added eight kills while Tionne Graves-Brown chipped in with seven. Ziolkowski went off for a match-best seven aces while Graves-Brown, Tynes, and Lindsay Burg each added three. Burg led the team with 13 assists while Beth Schlecker added 10.
The Wolverines were outstanding on the attack in the first and second games, swinging for a .321 attack rate in the first game and a .333 attack rate in the second. The Wolverines spotted the Ravens a pair of points in the first game before scoring 11 straight to take a big lead. The Ravens drew within five points at 13-8, but got no closer as Wesley finished the game on a 12-2 run for a 25-10 victory.
In the second game, Ziolkowski ripped off a kill and four aces to win Wesley five straight points and make the score 10-4. After a brief comeback attempt from Rosemont, the Wolverines went on another 8-0 run to make it 19-7. Tionne Graves-Brown closed out the game with an emphatic kill, making it 25-12.
In the third, the Wolverines capitalized on nine unforced errors by their opponent to run away with the match. The Navy and White followed the lead of Ziolkowski as she registered four kills in the third game to earn the 25-11 win and 3-0 match sweep.
Wesley improves to 9-9 on the year and will return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Christopher Newport University for a conference clash with the Captains.
