DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Volleyball team fell 3-0 to Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount University on Wednesday night in Dover.
Jessica Tynes led the Wolverines offensively with 12 kills while Beth Schlecker dished out 12 assists. Lindsay Burg chipped in with 10 assists while Tionne Graves-Brown and Kristin Wissler led the team with 10 digs each. Wissler also led the team with three aces and Codi Ziolkowski recorded a team-high four total blocks (two solo).
Wesley trailed throughout the first set, falling behind 12-7 in the early going and could never recover. The squad drew within five points again at 24-19, but that was as close as they could draw to the Saints in the first game.
In the second, the Wolverines earned a modest 10-8 lead but could not hold it. The Saints used a 6-0 run to take a 14-10 lead and finished the game on a 10-4 spurt to earn the 25-16 second game victory.
Wesley led for much of the third set, pulling ahead 19-16 on four Tynes kills and an ace by Graves-Brown. The Wolverines led 20-17 late in the game but the Saints came back again, running out on an 8-2 run to finish the game and earn the 3-0 match victory.
Wesley moves to 9-13 on the season and will take on St. Mary's in another CAC contest on Friday, October 14.
