DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of Lincoln University on Thursday night in front of a home crowd at Wentworth Gym in Dover.
Tionne Graves-Brown led all players with 10 kills and added three service aces and a solo block for the Wolverines. Jessica Tynes dropped nine kills while Beth Schlecker dished out 18 assists and added six kills. Lindsay Burg finished with 10 assists and a team-high nine digs on the evening.
Wesley made short work of the Lions, finishing the visitors off in less than an hour. Wesley conceded the Lions the first two points of the match but never trailed by more than one point after that throughout all three games.
The Wolverines pulled away from their competition in all three stanzas of the match, earning a sweep with wins of 25-11, 25-17, 25-11. As a team, the Wolverines hit above .300 in all three sets, finishing with a .330 hitting percentage on the night. The squad also played good defense, recording six total blocks and limiting the Lions to a .027 hitting percentage on the evening.
Graves-Brown is hitting .296 on the year, just 0.2 percentage points away from tying the Wesley single-season record for hitting percentage. She is also on pace to break her own record from a year ago for single-season kills per set. Graves-Brown averaged a record 2.92 kills per set last season and is on pace to smash that this year, averaging 3.21 kills per set.
Wesley will finish their season with three conference games, traveling to Salisbury on Tuesday, October 25 to face the Sea Gulls before hosting Southern Virginia and Frostburg State over the weekend.
