DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College volleyball team will host Youth Volleyball and Dig Purple Night for Pediatric Stroke Awareness in their non-conference match against Delaware Valley on Thursday, Oct. 11.
The Dig Purple Night is to support Makenna Ruth Pritchard. Makenna was taken to A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital on August 22th, at just six days old, for seizure-like activity. Makenna continued to seize, a rapid response was called, she was intubated, sedated, and the tests began. The test results came back and Dave Pritchard and his wife, Ellen, were told that Makenna had suffered a stroke. The seizures were a result of the damage done to her brain by the stroke. She continues her battle everyday with the help her family.
The Pritchard Family, along with Premier Volleyball of Delaware and the Holy Cross Middle School volleyball team will be accepting donations and selling bracelets with Makenna Ruth's name on it at the game on Thursday.
