Volleyball clinches fourth seed in conference tourney with four-set win over Marywood

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College volleyball team notched four-set win on Friday over Marywood, 25-18, 16-25, 25-18, 25-20 to clinch the fourth seed and a home game in the quarterfinals of next week's Atlantic East Conference Tournament.

The defense played well in lengthy rallies throughout the game with three players recording double-digit digs in the won. Caelli Clifford registered a team-high 23 digs while Regan Healey and Jenna Burchfield dug out 13 and 12 attacks respectively. Healey added a team-best nine kills along with two service aces. Burchfield and Clifford each dropped in three service aces.

Along with Healey, Wesley had four other players with six or more kills. Mary Getty and Nya Lightfoot each tallied eight kills, five digs and a block assist. Elisa Hackendorn and Micah Wright collected six kills respectively. Hackendorn added six digs.

Lindsay Burg dished out 18 assists while Teaghen Vogelsang handed out 12 assists in the win.

Gabrielle Santos had 13 kills to lead Marywood.

Wesley finishes the regular season 14-16 overall and 3-3 in the Atlantic East Conference. The fourth-seeded Wolverines will host Marywood, who earned the fifth seed in the tournament, on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The game from Wentworth Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
