The Wesley Wolverines volleyball team couldn't overcome Randolph, falling 3-1 in the match up at the tournament hosted by Virginia Weslyan.
Set scores for the Wolverines were 18-25, 24-26, 25-18, and 21-25.
The Wolverines out-dug the Wildcats 102-98, but the Wildcats had 40 aces in the match and had four more kills in the match, 43-39.
The Wolverines trailed the Wildcats in the first set but fell short as the Wildcats took the lead 16-24. Mackenzie Bender and Caile Clifford stepped in with two kills each assisted by Brooke Gurganus before Randolph took the winning kill ending the set 18-25.
Off to a slow start in set two, the Wolverines were able to tie the match 15-15 but can't pull through and Wildcats take the lead again. Two straight points at the end keep the score close but an attack error by Mary getty ends the set at 24-26.
The Wolverines take an early lead in set three 9-6 and continue to fight throughout the rest of the set. Taking a big lead 23-16, the Wolverines push out two straight points to take the set 25-18.
Taking an early lead again in the fourth set but fall behind as Randolph gets three straight points to take the lead 6-8. The Wolverines hang tight with a kill by Emily Waldridge from Brooke Gurganus, 19-21. Three straaight errors by Welsey end the game 21-25.
