Burris Leads Wesley at GBC

WILMINGTON, Del. - Freshman Tristin Burris (Camden, Del./Polytech) captured fourth place to lead the Wesley College women's cross  country team to sixth place at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational.

Burriss, in her first career race, ran a 22:25 5K, the ninth fastest time in school history.  Kristine Bailey (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen) also turned in a strong performance with a 24:38 to finish 19th. 

Kristen Sofia (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) was the third Wesley runner across the line in 27:48, with two more Wolverines finishing with 14 seconds to round out the scoring contingent.  Christine Moye (New Castle, Del.) ran a 27:57, while Kayla Sherwood (Dover, Del./Dover) finished her day in 28:02.  The trio finished consecutively in 50th thru 52nd place.

Cedar Crest's Katie Hartman beat the field by over a minute with a 20:52.  Her Falcons also won the team title with 49 points.

Wesley is back in action next weekend at the Cabrini Invitational.
