Burris Wins at Delaware State
SMYRNA, Del. - Wesley College's Tristin Burris (Camden, Del./Polytech) won the DSU Classic at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Farm.
Burris covered the 5,000-meter course in 20:29.82, outdistancing her nearest competitor by 19 seconds for the victory.
Twila McCrea (Laurel, Del./Laurel) and Kristine Bailey (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen) joined Burris in the top 10. McCrea turned in a 23:42.73 to finish eighth, while Bailey was six seconds behind her in ninth place.
Farryn Kauffman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) claimed 13th place with a time of 26:36.60. Shakeiya Marshall (Chester Twp., Pa./New Beginnings Academy) rounded out the top five with a time of 31:12.03 in 15th place.
Despite Burris' win, the Hornets took the win in the dual meet with six straight finishers after the Wolverines' top runner.
Wesley concludes its season at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships at York College of Pennsylvania on October 29.
