SMYRNA, Del. - The Wolverines found solid footing in the 2019 cross country season opener on Saturday facing Division I opponents Delaware State, Coppin State and Morgan State.
In the women's 5,000 meter, Wesley had two runners finish within the top 10.
Senior Jontae Hankins led the way coming in seventh with a time of 24:14.0, opening her final season 1:17.0 faster than her 2018 campaign.
Freshman Julianna Ceron debuted 10th for the Wolverines with a time of 24:51.0.
In a collaborate effort the team finished second with an overall time of 2:07:56.0 thanks to top 20 finishes by Junior Bianca Newsom (13), Freshman Jasmine St. John (14), Junior Amanda Curry (16), and Senior Evelina Sloboh (19).
The Wolverines are back in action Friday, September 20 at the Goldy-Beacom Fall Classic.
