Baseball All-PAC Announced
Dover, DE - Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) and Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) were both named to the 2005 2nd Team All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball team.  Sorenson and Lemon hit .378 and .381 respectively on the year and both started in all 26 games for the Wolverines.  Sorenson had 34 hits, 32 RBI's, 27 runs scored, 11 homeruns and a slugging percentage of .778.  Lemon had 37 hits, 29 RBI's, 24 runs scored and 3 homeruns on the season, while adding 9 doubles.  Lemon was also named to the All-PAC Sportsmanship Team.

Wolverines Falter to Eastern, 7-4
(Friday, April 29th)
St. David's, PA - Wesley College (8-18, 4-15) fell to conference opponent Eastern University by a final score of 7-4 in baseball action on Friday afternoon.  Wesley was led by Mike Lemon's (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) 3-for-5 effort, while Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) was 2-for-3.  Brock Dean (Dagsboro, DE/Indian River) was 2-for-5.

Wesley Drops Two
(Sunday, April 23rd)
Dover, DE - Wesley (8-17, 4-14) dropped both games of a conference doubleheader to Gwynedd-Mercy College (18-15, 11-7) by final scores of 4-1 and 11-6 on Sunday afternoon in baseball action.  Matt Adams (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) was 2-for-4 for the Wolverines, while Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) led the Wolverines in game 2, connecting on his 11th homerun of the season, helping him to a 2-for-3 day.  Sorenson added 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Lemon was also 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, while Brock Dean (Dagsboro, DE/Indian River) added a homerun.

Baseball Downed by Griffins
(Friday, April 22nd)
Gwynedd Valley, PA - Wesley College (8-15, 4-12) fell to conference opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College by a final score of 25-8 in baseball action on Friday afternoon.

Wesley's game vs. Gwynedd-Mercy College scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd has been postponed and rescheduled for Sunday, April 24th at 12:00.  The game is a doubleheader.

Wolverines Fall Victim to Misericordia, 7-0
(Tuesday, April 19th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (8-14, 4-11) dropped their 9th consecutive game, falling to conference opponent College Misericordia (11-13-1, 9-4) by a final score of 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.  The Cougars jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st and followed with 4 more runs in the top half of the 2nd inning.  Wesley was led at the plate by Bryan Sorenson's (West River, MD/Southern) 2-for-4 performance, while Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) and Kieran Kearns (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro) were both 1-for-3.

Wolverines Taken Down by Villa Julie, 6-3
(Monday, April 18th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (8-13) dropped a non-conference baseball game to Villa Julie College (17-14) by a final score of 6-3 on Monday afternoon.  The Mustangs jumped on top 3-0 in the top of the third inning on a 3-run homerun by Anthony DeFrancisco (Pottsgrove, PA/Pottsgrove) and added 3 more runs along the way.  Wesley tried to mount a comeback, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) and Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) were both 1-for-3, while Kieran Kearns (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro) added a triple, 2 RBI's and 1 run scored.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) also added a triple in the effort. 

The Wolverines were out-hit 9-6 in the game and committed 5 errors.  Wesley will host College Misericordia on Tuesday, April 19th with first pitch slated for 3:00 in conference action.  Photo: Brandon Hopkins

Wolverines Almost Muster Split
(Saturday, April 16th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (8-12, 4-10) fell to conference opponent Alvernia College (19-2, 14-1) in both games on Saturday afternoon in baseball action.  The Wolverines fell in game 1 by a final score of 10-1 and 6-4 in game 2.  In the opener, the Wolverines fell behind early 3-0 in the top of the 1st inning.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) singled home Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) in the bottom half of the inning for the Wolverines only run.  Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) was 1-for-2 with a double.

Wesley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game 2, with RBI's by Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern), Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) and Brock Dean (Dagsboro, DE/Indian River).  Alvernia pulled within 3-1 in the top of the 2nd and added another run in the top of the 4th.  Alvernia took the lead for good in the top half of the 5th on a 2-run homerun by Dan Myers (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) to put the Crusaders up 5-3.  Robusto led Wesley going 2-for-4, while Maczynski was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's.

Wolverines Blasted by Crusaders
(Friday, April 16th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (8-10, 4-8) fell to PAC-leading Alvernia College (17-2, 12-1) by a final score of 20-3 in baseball action on Friday afternoon.  The Wolverines were led by Bryan Sorenson's (West River, MD/Southern) 3-for-4 effort, with a homerun and RBI.  Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) and Matt Adams (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) were both 2-for-4.  Robusto added an RBI for the Wolverines.

Both teams will square off in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 at the Wesley Baseball Complex on Saturday, April 16th.

Wesley Swept by Cougars
(Saturday, April 9th)
Dallas, PA - Wesley College (8-9, 4-7) lost both games to conference opponent College Misericordia (7-8-1, 5-1) on Saturday afternoon, by final scores of 10-8 and 8-7 in baseball action.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) led Wesley in game 1, going 2-for-4 with 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's.  Dan Bunnion (Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) was also 2-for-4 and added a homerun.  In game 2, Kieran Kearns (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro) and Matt Adams (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) were both 2-for-3.  Adams had a grand slam and 4 RBI's, while Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) added a double.

Wesley Loses Heartbreaker
(Wednesday, April 6th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (8-7, 4-5) fell to conference opponent Neumann College (7-11, 3-4) by a final score of 6-5 on Wednesday afternoon in baseball action.  Wesley was up 5-3 heading into the top of the 9th, but gave up 3 runs for the final tally.  Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) led Wesley going 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Jordan Smith (Harrington, DE/Lake Forest) was also 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) added an RBI.

Wolverines Split Twin-Bill with Marywood
(Tuesday, April 5th)
Scranton, PA - Wesley College (8-6, 4-4) split their twin-bill with Marywood University (7-9, 2-3) on Monday afternoon in baseball action.  Wesley defeated the Pacers in game 1 by a final score of 6-4.  Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) and Mike Otchy (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan)  both were 2-for-3, with 1 RBI apiece.  Kevin Gavan (Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) picked up the win on the mound, while Matt McKee (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) earned the save.  Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI's in the win.

In game 2, Wesley jumped out to a 9-0 lead only to fall by a final score of 12-11.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) was 3-for-3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's and Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) was 3-for-4 with a homerun and 3 RBI's.  Kieran Kearns (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro) was 3-for-4. 

Wesley Beats Pacers, 7-3
(Friday, April 1st)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (7-5, 3-3) defeated conference opponent Marywood University (6-8, 1-2) by a final score of 7-3 in baseball action on Friday afternoon.  Marywood jumped on the board early in the top of the 1st, plating 2 runs off of Wesley starter Ryan Buckland (Middletown, DE/
Caravel).  Buckland settled down going 7 innings, striking out 5, while giving up 3 earned runs on 7 hits to pick up his second win of the year.

Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) put Wesley on the board in the bottom half of the third with an RBI double.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) would add an RBI single and Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) had a pair of RBI's in the inning to put Wesley up 4-2.  Marywood plated a run in the top half of the 7th to pull within 4-3, but Wesley scored 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth for the final tally.  Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) was 3-for-4 with a run scored.  Maczynski finished the day with 3 RBI's, while Sorenson was 2-for-5 with a run scored.  Photo: Rightfielder, Mike Otchy (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) makes the catch in the Wolverines 7-3 win.

Sorenson Leads Wesley to a Pair of Wins
(Wednesday, March 30th)
Aston, PA - Wesley College (6-5, 2-3) defeated conference opponent Neumann College in both games of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  In game 1, Wesley defeated the Knights 20-1 behind the bat of Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) who was 4-for-5 with a homerun and 3 RBI's.  Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) added 2 hits and an RBI, while Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's.  Josh Gordon (York, PA/Central) had a grand slam for the Wolverines.  Kevin Gavan (Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) pitched 6 innings, striking out 5 and allowed only 3 hits on the day.

In the nightcap, Sorenson again led the offense going 3-for-4 with another homerun and 3 RBI's.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) and Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) both had 1 hit apiece in the effort.

Wesley Games Washed Out
(Monday, March 28th)
Dover, DE - The Wesley College men's tennis and baseball games have been postponed for Monday, March 28th.  The baseball game at Neumann has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 30th with a start time of 12:00.  The game is a doubleheader and an away game for Wesley.

Wesley Pounded by Scarlet Knights
(Tuesday, March 22nd)
Glenside, PA - Wesley College (4-5, 0-3) traveled to conference opponent Arcadia University (7-5, 3-0), losing to the Scarlet Knights by a final score of 14-2.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, while Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) was 1-for-4.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) had 2 runs scored.  Wesley was able to muster only 2 hits in the game.

Wesley Swept in Conference Opener
(Saturday, March 19th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (4-4, 0-2) was swept by conference foe Arcadia University (6-4, 2-0) by final scores of 7-3 and 7-5, in baseball action on Saturday afternoon.  In game 1, the Wolverines were led by Mike Lemons' (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) 1-for-2 performance with 1 triple and 1 run scored.  Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) also added 2 RBI's.

In the finale, Wesley scored 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead, but could not hold on giving up 2 runs in the top of the sixth and 1 in the top of the 7th.  Lemons and Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) were both 2-for-4, with Lemons adding a run scored and 2 RBI's.  Dan Bunnion (Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) was 2-for-3 in the game.

(Friday, March 18th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (4-2) fell to non-conference opponent Ithaca College (4-7) by a final score of 6-4 in baseball action on Friday afternoon.  Wesley was led by Mike Lemon's (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) 3-for-4 performance, while adding 2 RBI's, a run scored and a double.  Bryan Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) and Jordan Smith (Harrington, DE/Lake Forest) were both 2-for-4 for Wesley.  Wesley hosts Arcadia University on Saturday, March 19th with first pitch slated for 12:00.  The game is a doubleheader and the conference opener for both teams.

Wolverines Lose in Offensive Battle
(Tuesday, March 8th)
Cape Coral, FL - Wesley College (4-1) dropped their first game of 2005 with a 16-10 setback to Clark University in baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.  Wesley was led by Steve Robusto's (Bear, DE/William Penn) 3-for-6 performance and Matt Adams' (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) 3-for-5 effort.  Chris Maczynski (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) was 2-for-5 with a homerun and 4 RBI's.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) and Jordan Smith (Harrington, DE/Lake Forest) both had homeruns for the Wolverines.  Wesley has now scored 64 runs and has totaled 14 homeruns to date.

Wolverines Power Past Bluffton for Two Wins
Sorenson Blasts 5th Homerun in Game 2 Win
(Monday, March 7th)
Cape Coral, FL - Wesley College (4-0) blasted their way to a sweep of Bluffton University by final scores of 11-2 and 9-7 in Monday's baseball action.  Steve Robusto (Bear, DE/William Penn) led Wesley in the opener going 2-for-4 with a homerun, while Brian Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) was 2-for-4 with a homerun and 4 RBI's.  Matt Adams (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) also connected for a homerun for the Wolverines.  Ryan Buckland (Middletown, DE/Caravel) pitched a complete game for Wesley, allowing 2 runs and striking out 7.

In game 2, Wesley was again led by Sorenson who was 2-for-2 with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI's.  Sorenson had 10 RBI's on the day for Wesley and now has 5 homeruns on the season.  Robusto was 1-for-3 with another homerun, while Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) was 2-for-4.  Cody Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) was 2-for-3 in the nightcap.  Photo: Brian Sorenson

Wolverines Put on Offensive Show in Openers
(Sunday, March 6th)
Cape Coral, FL - Wesley College (2-0) opened up 2005 with a sweep of Worcester Polytechnic University in Cape Coral, FL by final scores of 16-12 and 18-4 in baseball action Sunday afternoon.  In game 1, Kieran Kearns (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro) had the game-winning homerun for Wesley, while also going 2-for-3 at the plate.  Mike Lemon (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) had a grand-slam and 4 RBI's, while Matt Adams (Bridgeville, DE/Woodbridge) was 2-for-4 with a homerun.  Brian Sorenson (West River, MD/Southern) also had a homerun for the Wolverines.

In the finale, Sean Quick (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) was 3-for-3 leading Wesley at plate.  Lemon and Adams were both 3-for-6, while Sorenson and Brock Dean (Dagsboro, DE/Indian River) both had homeruns for Wesley.

Baseball Picked 5th in Preseason PAC Poll
Dover, DE - The Wesley College baseball team has been picked to finish 5th in the preseason Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) poll.  The Wolverines coming off a 13-25-1 overall and 9-12 PAC record.

Baseball Game Postponed

Dover, DE - The Wesley College baseball 2005 season-home opener vs. Rutgers-Camden scheduled for Saturday, February 26th has been postponed with a date and time still to be determined.
