Baseball stumbles at Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Wesley College baseball team fell, 11-3 to the Washington (Md.) Shoremen on the road on Thursday.

Wesley had the early 2-0 lead in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Jarrett Wallace scored from third base when Chris Seibert grounded into a double play. A batter later, Michael Piccirillo singled to the shortstop to allow Cody Dmiterchik to come around to score from third base.

Chris Bramble led off the second inning with a single and stole second base. Kevin Schmitt moved him over to third base on a sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch let Bramble score a batter later to put Wesley up 3-0.

Washington scored 11 unanswered runs to take the win.

Wallace, Bramble and Piccirillo each tallied a hit for the Wolverines. Piccirillo recorded the lone RBI in the loss.

Alex Marrs struck out six in 5.1 innings of work.

The Wolverines (2-4) return to Bob Reed Field on Tuesday, March 13 when they host the Misericordia Cougars. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
