DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College baseball team hosted the Eastern Eagles in a non-conference bout on Tuesday and were defeated 7-4.
Alexander Weber opened up the scoring for Wesley after a leadoff single and two stolen bases when he scored on a dropped third strike, to cut the Eastern lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the first.
After Eastern scored three more runs in the top of the second, Jason Boc belted his first collegiate home run with a solo shot over the left field wall, to close the gap 6-2 in the bottom of the second. Jordan Marucci added a home run of his own in the bottom of the third with a rocket into left center, to trim the Eastern lead to 6-3.
Eastern added an insurance run when Mickey Foytik smacked a double into left field that brought home Britton Lawrence, to push their lead to 7-3 in the top of the fourth.
Boc would knock in his second RBI of the game when he roped a single to left field to score William Musser to bring Wesley within three runs of the lead, 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
Eastern's bullpen would hold Wesley at bay through the last four innings to preserve the win.
Boc paced the Wesley offense with two RBIs. William Foster was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
Foytik led Eastern with four runs batted in.
Wesley returns to Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday when they head up to Aston, Pa. for a doubleheader with the Neumann Knights. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
