St. Mary's City, MD – The Baseball team falls to 4-10 on the season after St. Mary's exploited the Wolverines' pitching for nine hits on Wenesday. Wesley had equal success accumulating ten hits in the game but couldn't find a way to get runners across the plate. The final score of the game was 11-4.
As starting pitcher Joey Strazza would give up three runs in the first, the Seahawks held the lead for the rest of the game. It wasn't until Alexander Weber smacked an RBI single in the top of the fourth, scoring Jordan Marucci who tripled earlier in the inning. Jason Boc later scored on a wild pitch to make the score a close 3-2. St. Mary's would go on to pile three more runs onto their lead in the bottom half of the inning, distancing themselves 6-2.
Sam Courtney tacked on another Wesley run in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice ground out, which scored Justin Blunt from third. The Seahawks had their third three-run inning of the game, this time coming from a towering homerun to right, making the score 9-3.
After St. Mary's plated two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, John Joines sent an RBI single to right in the eighth, scoring Courtney from third. This would bring the final score to 11-4.
Strazza would pitch six innings and gave up nine runs on eight hits. He also walked six Seahawks during the rough outing. Reliever Korey Hendricks came on to pitch the last two innings, giving up two runs on one hit.
The Wolverines will head back home to figure out a game plan before Saturday's double-header at York College. Game one's first pitch will come at 12 p.m., and game two is scheduled for 3 p.m.
