The Wesley College baseball team picked up its first series win of year in Atlantic East play today. The Wolverines were just one run shy Friday of tying up the game and forcing extra innings as they fell 6-5.
In game two of the series the team started to come alive offensively in the second inning when Alex Weber singled down the right field line scoring Jacob Meisel. The runs eventually came quickly for the Wolverines as the Pacers lead them for much of the game. In the top of the seventh inning with the score 2-11, Wesley used a 10 run inning to steal the win. Sam Courtney eventually scored what would be the winning run off or a Pacer infield error. Anthony Santucci picked up his second win of the year as the pitcher of record.
In game three of the series the Wolverines wasted little time scoring 22 run off 15 hits. Sam Courtney, Dustin Sutton and Jarrett Wallace lead the team each with three hits a piece. The big hit of the day came off the bat of Weber as it cleared the fence contributing two RBI on that play and another on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Cole Edward's was credited with the win throwing five innings, limiting the pacers to one earned run while striking out five.
The team returns to action Friday May 7th in their final Atlantic East Series in program history.
