PITMAN, N.J. – The ninth-ranked Wesley College football team were predicted to win their fourth consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship this season after the conference released the results of its annual preseason poll on Thursday of the league's 10 head coaches.

This is the third time in four years of affiliate membership in the NJAC that Wesley topped the preseason poll. Led by first-year head coach Chip Knapp, Wesley received a league-high seven of the 10 available first-place votes.

The eighth-ranked Frostburg St. Bobcats were picked to finish second in the conference with the remaining three first-place votes.

Last season, Wesley finished the year 10-2 overall with a perfect 9-0 conference record to earn their third consecutive NJAC Championship and a berth in their 13th consecutive NCAA Championship Tournament.

Wesley returns a league-high seven All-NJAC players from last year's team, including senior quarterback Khaaliq Burroughs, senior wide receiver Alex Kemp, senior defensive back Cappadonna Miller, senior tight end Andrew Eagle, senior offensive lineman Nick Glover, junior kicker/punter Nick Bruhn, and the 2017 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year in junior running back E.J. Lee.

No. 9 Wesley will open the 2018 slate on Friday, Aug. 31 when they host the 17th-ranked Delaware Valley Aggies at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
