Field Hockey Falls at Local Rival Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Two late Washington College goals gave the Shorewomen a 4-2 victory over the Wesley College field hockey team on Tuesday afternoon.  The victory improves Washington College to 6-1 on the season while the Wolverines fall to 5-2.

Jessica Giaccone scored a goal in transition in the 15th minute for Wesley to tie the score at one after Grace Phillips gave Washington a 1-0 lead just 3:05 into the game.  He score remained tied for the duration of the first half, but once again the Shorewomen took another lead early in the period with a tally 56 second into the period.

After a corner by Gracie Daniels, Renee Schneider got off a pair of shots that were saved by goalkeeper Sadie Robertson but just seconds later; Brooke Gannon was awarded a penalty stroke and converted at 44:08.

Tied at two, Alli Dudley scored what was the game-winner just 24 seconds later and she added an insurance goal with 6:18 left in the game.

Washington College outshot Wesley, 21-7 for the game, but just 10-9 on corner attempts. 

Sarah Daniels made 11 saves in the loss the Wolverines while Morgan Seymour was credited with a defensive save.
