Field Hockey Falls in Final Game of the Season

DOVER, DE – Morgan Seymour scored the second goal of her career but it was not enough to lift the Wolverines over the York College (PA) Spartans on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans got on the board first when a Shania Gelvin shot turned into an assist as Autumn Mallory swung to find the back of the cage.

Seymour's goal came just under ten minutes later. Lauren Niezgoda found Devin Price on a penalty corner. Price took a shot from the top of the key that resulted in a save by the Spartans', Jessica Everett. Seymour was able to settle the rebound a slam a hard shot into the goal. The game would go into the half tied at 1-1.

Just two minutes into the second half, the Spartans would capitalize on a penalty corner of their own when Ali Posey would lift a shot high over the entire penalty box and land the ball just inside the goal. The Wolverines would put on the pressure with five shots and four penalty corners following the goal, but they would not be able to find the equalizer.

Sarah Daniels made ten saves in the game and received help from teammate Emily Wagner, who laid out to make a defensive save, while Jessica Everett was called upon to make four saves in the win.

The loss takes the Wolverines out of playoff contention and they end their season at 6-11 overall, 1-5 in CAC play. The Spartans playoff hopes continue as they advance to 11-6, 2-3 in conference.
