Wesley concludes Mid-South trip against Hendrix, Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Wesley College field hockey team spent their Labor Day weekend in Arkansas and Tennessee. The Wolverines took on the Hendrix Warriors in Arkansas on Friday before taking on the Rhodes Lynx on Sunday.

The Wolverines dropped their opening game of the trip to the Warriors, 3-2 on Friday. After Warriors took the early lead, the Wolverines nodded up the game 1-1 when Alexiss Hulse scored on an assist from Jessica Behornar.

The Wolverines took the 2-1 lead in the 17th minute when Emily Wagner tallied a goal on an assist from Kaila Hindt.

The Warriors then scored two answered goals later in the first half to take the 3-2 lead. The Wolverines outshot the Warriors 6-0 in the second half but the Warriors held off the Wolverine charge.

Kasey Fry tallied a defensive save while Makenzie McIntyre collected a save in net.

The Wolverine notched more penalty corners (11-1) and shots (8-4) than the Warriors.

The Wolverines stumbled in their last match of the trip on Sunday against the Lynx, 4-0.

Rebecca Dvorak registered two shots, including one shot on goal. Hulse added a shot on goal for the Wolverines.

Fry notched a defensive save for the Wolverines. Bridget Wood made six saves in 35 minutes in net while Lauren Berry stopped four shots in 26 minutes.

Hailey Mules recorded a hat trick for the Lynx.

The Wolverines (0-2) will return home on Thursday when they host the Washington Shorewomen. Action from Drass Field at Scott Miller Stadium gets under way at 7 p.m.
