Field Hockey blanks Ferrum, 4-0 for fourth consecutive win

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College field hockey team continued their hot start to the season, blanking the Ferrum Panthers 4-0 to push their season-opening winning streak to four games.

Wesley got started fast with a goal in the sixth minute of the game. Kaila Hindt played in a penalty corner to Kasey Fry, who passed over to Rebecca Dvorak. Dvorak's shot was deflected into the goal by Hindt.

Katelynn Fuhr doubled Wesley's lead to two 22 minutes into the game when Hanna Giaccone passed the ball over to Fuhr and pushed the ball past the Ferrum goalkeeper.

In the 28th minute, Kasey Fry was able to corral a rebound near the top of the arc and blasted it past the Ferrum keeper to take a three-goal lead over the Panthers.

In the 54th minute, Fry put in a shot that was saved by Ferrum's goalkeeper and Hindt was able to clean up the rebound and push it into the net for Wesley's fourth goal of the game. Sidney Knott, Lauren Berry and Bridget Wood combined for the shutout with Wood making the lone save of the game.

Wesley controlled the entire game, only allowing three Ferrum shots and one shot on target in the 69th minute.

Wesley's four-game winning streak to start the season is the program's best start to a season since 2014.

The Wolverines (4-0) will look to make it five in a row when they travel to Reading, Pa. to take on the Albright Lions. The non-conference clash is set for 7 p.m.
