How it happened

The Wolverines continued road play Thursday night at Washington College for a non-conference game before they cap off regular season play next week.

The first quarter of the game remained slow for the Wolverines and the Shorewomen as they kept the ball between the 25.

Shots from Jessica Behorner and Carly Setting during a penalty corner less than three minutes into the second quarter were both saved by Kayla Zapcic.

Washington took the lead (0-1) with 6:30 to go in the third quarter when Kailyn Brandt converted a penalty stroke to the right hand side of a diving Lauren Berry.

Kaila Hindt put a shot on goal during a scramble with eight seconds to go in the quarter that got past Washington College but was cleared off the goal line for a defensive save.

Kristen Fuhr had the best chance to tie the game for Wesley with 7:23 to go in the fourth quarter, as she redirected a shot during a penalty corner that forced Zapcic into a jumping save as she swatted the ball away with her stick.

The Wolverines put four shots on goal in the fourth quarter, the last one coming from Hindt with 3:52 to go which was stopped by Zapcic.

Comments from the Coach

"The Washington game was a tough loss. We played well, took good shots, and put a lot of pressure on their defense.  They played well and kept us out of the goal.  Kristen Fuhr had a great game as our low forward, working well with Jessica Behornar, Kaila Hindt and the other forwards to keep the ball on the offensive end. Defensively, Jada Kilgore, Alexiss Hulse and Alexis Howerin continue to be strong".
