TOWSON, Md. – The Wesley College men's basketball team battled with Division I opponent Towson Tigers on Sunday, but Towson pulled away late 93-66 in Wesley's 2018 season opener.
Wesley only trailed by 11 at the halftime break but Towson's 26-7 run to start the second half helped the Tigers take the win.
Evan Anderson scored a career-high 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting. He knocked down 6-of-13 three-pointers and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Anderson added five rebounds in 37 minutes of play.
Battling an injury, Brian Cameron totaled nine points, nine rebounds and three assists. Brandon Lewis and Terrence Braxton each notched five points. Lewis pulled down six boards while Braxton dished out a pair of assists.
Quinton Drayton led Towson with 21 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Wesley will head to Ohio next weekend for the two-day Marietta College Shrine Tournament. Wesley will open the tournament taking on the St. Vincent Bearcats on Friday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
