Men's Basketball stumbles on Senior Day against Neumann

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College men's basketball team were unable to capture the win on Senior Day, stumbling to the Neumann Knights, 80-69 in Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday.

Wesley got out of the gates fast early in the game. Wesley jumped out to a 27-13 lead with 9:05 remaining in the first half. Neumann spent the remainder of the half clawing their way back to eventually take a 44-40 lead into the halftime break.

The Wolverines opened the second half on a 9-5 run to tie the game at 49, less than three minutes into the second half. Wesley held a few four-point leads throughout the second half but Neumann would tie the contest at 61 with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Neumann would pull away at that point and close the game out on a 24-9 run to take the rare road win at Wentworth.

Evan Anderson and Brian Cameron both scored a game-high 22 points. Cameron hauled in five rebounds, handed out three assists and tallied a block and a steal. Anderson grabbed five boards and dished out two assists.

Tyrone Craven tallied a game-high seven assists and a team-best seven rebounds. Terrence Braxton and Brandon Lewis added nine and six points off the bench, Braxton reeled in six rebounds while Lewis recorded five boards and a pair of assists.

In the first start of his career, Christian Chaney netted a three-pointer and two rebounds.

Wesley outshot Neumann from the field shooting 45.8 percent (27-59) to 39.1 percent (27-69) from the field but Neumann won the rebounding battle, holding a 51-34 advantage on the glass.

All five Neumann starters registered double-digit points led by Isaiah Wilmore, who led Neumann with 18 points.

Wesley (12-13, 6-6 Atlantic East) will host the Cabrini Cavaliers in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic East Conference Championship Tournament on Monday, Feb. 18. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
