YORK, Pa. - Wesley juniors Kirk Waldie (Folsom, Pa./ Ridley) and Jim McCleaft (Media, Pa./Sun Valley) were chosen to the 2008 All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) first team as voted by the CAC coaches.
It was the third career all-conference selection for both players. Each player was named All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference as freshmen and sophomores when the Wolverines played in that conference.
Waldie, a defender, leads the CAC in both ground balls per game (6.96), ranking 19th in NCAA Division III. His 42 caused turnovers paced the conference, as well. Waldie chipped in on the offense end too. He scored a pair of goals and dished out seven assists for nine points.
McCleaft serves as Wesley's starting goalkeeper. His goals against average of 8.27 is the best in the CAC among goalkeepers reaching the NCAA minimum in playing time. McCleaft also ranks second in the CAC and 25th in Division III in save percentage at .625. He also ranks third in the CAC in saves per game with 12.71.
Wesley currently stands at 8-6 on the season after finishing 3-4 in the program's first year in the CAC, tying for fourth and earning a home game in the CAC Quarterfinals.
The Wolverines cap off 2008 with a neutral site game against Greensboro (N.C.) in Charlottesville, Va. on April 26.
