DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College men's lacrosse team defeated the Rosemont Ravens, 12-9 at home Saturday.
Rosemont jumped out to their only lead of the afternoon, 3-2, after two quick goals from Sal Turelli less than three minutes into the second quarter. Wesley spent the remainder of the half battling back, scoring five of the game's next six goals to take a 6-4 lead into the halftime break.
Rosemont scored two quick goals to tie the game at six, two minutes into the second half. Jack Guzman gave Wesley the 7-6 lead with his first collegiate goal, with just over 10 minutes to go in the third. Zach Farnell added back-to-back goals two give Wesley a 9-6 lead over Rosemont heading into the fourth quarter.
11 seconds into the fourth quarter, Mackall-Lloyd extended Wesley's lead to 10-6 after capitalizing on a pass from Farnell. Rosemont would score the next three goals to cut Wesley's lead down to 10-9. With 3:32 remaining in regulation, Derek Hallock gave Wesley some insurance with his first goal in a Wesley uniform, to extend the lead to 11-9. Leo Kelly put the game away in the final minute with a goal of his own, sealing Wesley's first victory of the 2019 campaign.
Mackall-Lloyd led Wesley with his first-career hat trick. Cody Loyd, Tewey and Farnell all scored two goals apiece. Tewey and Kelly each dished out two assists.
Ben Koszelak led Rosemont with four goals.
Wesley (1-1) will head south to North Carolina for spring break. The Wolverines will be back in action Wednesday, Mar. 6 to take on the William Peace Pacers. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
