Wesley men’s track & field team wins ECAC Championship

BALTIMORE – The Wesley College men's track & field team won the team championship at the two-day Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Johns Hopkins University.

Wesley swept the relays and picked up an individual championship in the 100. Christian Saulsbury narrowly defeated Greg Taylor in the 100-meter dash. Saulsbury clocked in at 10.80 seconds while Taylor crossed the line in 10.81 seconds. Saulsbury, Taylor, John Heriot and TySean Cousar won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 41.66 seconds, a full second faster than the second-place team. Cousar, Heriot, Dominic McAnulty and Thomas Kalieta Jr. crushed the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:13.30. The 4x400 time was three seconds faster than second place, the fastest time in the Mideast Region and fourth in the nation.

Heriot and Cousar placed 2-3 in the 200-meter dash. Heriot finished in 21.89 seconds and Cousar crossed the line in 21.95 seconds.

Roland Attoh-Okine and Javonte Freeman finished in third and fourth place respectively in the 110-meter hurdles. Attoh-Okine turned in a time of 14.67 seconds while Freeman finished in 15.15 seconds.

Will Johnson placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.69 seconds. Aaron Gaither qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash and finished fifth, tallying a time of 11.12 seconds.

In the jumps, Daquay Harris-Winbush and Tre' Johnson notched the bronze medal in the long jump and triple jumps respectively. Harris-Winbush had a mark of 7.07 meters (23-2.5) in the long jump while Johnson leaped 14.55 meters (47-9). Myles Toppin finished fourth in the long jump (7.06m, 23-2) and sixth in the triple jump (13.54m, 44-5.25).

Wesley registered 93 team points to win the ECAC Championship for the first time in program history, edging Penn St.-Behrend.
