DOVER, Del. – Wesley College sophomore infielder Ashley Royer was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.
A Law and Justice Studies major at Wesley, Royer carries a 3.83 grade-point average. Royer earned second team All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) accolades in 2017 and ranked fourth in the CAC in runs batted in (40), tied for eighth in home runs (4) and tied for ninth in doubles (10). Royer tallied a .495/.500/.796 batting split in 2017. Royer was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week on March 1 and the CAC Player of the Week on Feb. 27.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Royer will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced later this month.
The Wolverines finished the 2017 season 21-17 overall and 5-9 in the CAC.
