Wesley Softball Rides Loukopoulos’ One-Hit Shutout to Victory Over Muhlenberg

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Wolverines move to 5-3 on the season after day two's Spring Break win over Muhlenberg in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The team dominated the Mules 8-0 in which a mercy rule was called after five innings.  

Dori Loukopoulos' tossed a gem of a game, going the distance for all five innings while only allowing one hit. During her shutout, she also struck out four Muhlenberg batters and walked just three.

Wesley's base running would get the team fired up in the first inning as Amanda Curry took advantage of a Muhlenberg wild pitch, scoring from third base to lead 1-0. The second inning would feature another Wesley run coming from an RBI double by Loukopoulos with one out. 

The Wolverines' bats would explode during the third, putting up a five spot during the inning. With the bases loaded, Karina Cardona drew a walk, scoring Carly Setting from third. Loukopoulos would then be hit by pitch, scoring another Wesley run. An RBI single by Julianna Ceron would make the score a lopsided 5-0. The barrage of runs didn't stop there as Bianca Newsom drew a bases loaded walk and Amanda Curry lined a single through the left side of the infield. By the end of the inning, the Wolverines would lead 7-0. 

Curry would drive in yet another run in the top of the fifth with an RBI single, giving the Wolverines a comfortable 8-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Loukopoulos completed her one-hit gem by inducing a double play to end the game. 

Wesley will take on St. Elizabeth on Field Three at 3:30p.m. The team looks to continue their successes in Myrtle Beach with another day two win.
