In what was a ten day break between double headers, the Wesley Softball team used two shortened games to complete the series sweep over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins. Dori Loukopoulos took little time controlling the game after her offensive put up four runs in the first inning. Loukopoulos then struck out the side in inning one handing it back over to the offense. It didn't take long for the game to be controlled by the Wolverines as todays offensive leaders Rachel Martinez and Ariana Mirenda both who went 3-3. Martinez smacked a double and put the game out of reach. Loukopoulos, Gab Monzo and Carly Setting each contributed a double bagger while Miranda Kinney legged out a triple down the right field line. Loukopoulos allowed zero hits in the game. The second no hitter of the season for the Wolverine pitching staff.
In game two the Wolverines used a two out two run rally to lead off the game. Loukopoulos once again helped the squad taking a two out walk, followed by a Monzo single, an error by the griffin defense allowed Martinez to reach again loading the bases for a Kinney single scoring Loukopoulos and Monzo. Although the momentum switched to the Griffins in the second due to a few unforced errors, Abbey Mayse entered the game in relief immediately shutting down the Griffin rally. The five runs in the second was all the griffins would get as Wesley used a fourth and fifth inning 11 run rally to once again force a run rule shortened game. Loukopoulos lead the offense in game two going 2-2 with a 3 run, 3 RBI triple. Jaclyn Burch banged out the only other extra base hit of the game while Amanda Curry also contributed a pair of hits and 3 RBI.
The Wolverines close out their regular season play with a double header on Sunday at Marywood University.
