Softball sweeps their way to the #1 seed in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament

SCRANTON, Pa. - With the best season in school history already stamped in the books, the Wolverines look to add a few more wins to their fairytale storybook ending as they have earned the right to host the the first weekend of the Atlantic East conference tournament.

In game one of today's double header vs. Marywood the Wolverines lead off hitter Ariana Mirenda laid down a bunt single on the first pitch of the game and legged out a single. A batter later Dori Loukopoulos made her presence known as she contributed one of her 8 RBI's of the day. Miranda Kinney hit an infield ball that ended up plating Loukopoulos for what would end up being the only two runs the Wolverines would need to secure the victory. The game ended in a run rule shortened 5th inning 11-1 victory. Loukopoulos got the start on the mound but Abbey Mayse closed the game and took the victory.

Game two was much the same as Loukopoulos once again toed the rubber as the starter this time going 3.1 innings of scoreless softball. She handed the ball over to freshman hurler Shanyn Burch would closed out the game throwing 2.2 innings with no earned runs. Loukopoulos was again the big bat for Wesley as she banged out another 4 RBI's to put the game out of reach. This game too ended in the shortened version with a score of 9-1.

Head Coach Juli Greep reached the career milestone of 200 collegiate victories after the first win in today's doubleheader. The Wolverines return to action Friday at noon as they host the #6 seeded Immaculata Mighty Macs. Wesley will then have a game break and return at 4pm vs the #4 seeded Neumann Knights.
