Newsom’s career breaking day helps Wesley to Champion series

DOVER, Del. - In a full team effort of outstanding offensive and defensive play the Wolverines swept through the Pod 1 Atlantic East Series advancing them to a showdown of the #1 and #2 teams for the Atlantic East conference championship next weekend. 

 
In game one Wesley beat the Immaculata Mighty Macs 5-2. Dori Loukopoulos lead the team on the mound and at the plate striking out 8 over four innings of work contributing 2 RBI's. Abbey Mayse closed out the game only allowing one run and closing the door on an Immaculata rally.
 
Game two ended in a 12-7 victory over the Neumann Knights eliminating them from the series and setting up a rematch with the Macs. Dori Loukopoulos once again earned the victory and lead the team with three RBI's. 
 
In Saturday's match up Bianca Newsom lead the team with going 2-2 with 3 RBI's and swiped 4 stolen bases. The 4 base swipes gave her a career record breaking 58 bases, formerly held by Nina Marcano who holds more records than anyone else in Wesley softball history. Ariana Mirenda went 4-4 with a double and home run. Loukopoulos was credited with the win her 13th of the year. 
 
The Wolverines return to action Friday at 4pm as they host the Cabrini Cavaliers at DuPont field.
