YORK, Pa. – The Wesley College women's basketball team dropped a 73-48 Capital Athletic Conference decision to No. 10 York (Pa.), on Thursday evening. The Wolverines now stand at 4-16 overall and 1-10 in the CAC while the Spartans improve to 19-1 with an 11-1 mark in league play.
Wesley took an early, 5-4 lead thanks to a three-pointer by Roniece Williams, followed by a layup by Brionna Johnson just under three minutes into the game. York responded to take the lead and after a jumper by Nicole Evanko cut the Spartans lead to 21-16 with 3:34 left in the half, York closed the half on a 10-0 run to go into the break with a 31-16 advantage.
York scored the first seven points of the second half and Wesley would get no closer than 14 points the rest of the game.
Johnson led Wesley with a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds while Williams added 13 points. Haley Thomas made three shots from behind-the-arc for nine points.
Kristin Haley led all scorers with 24 points for York while Brittany Hicks added 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Wesley returns to the court on Saturday, February 8 when it hosts No. 13 Christopher Newport in a 1 pm tipoff.
