Women’s basketball falls to top-seeded Cabrini

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's basketball team fell to the Atlantic East Conference-leading Cabrini Cavaliers, 74-54 on Wednesday.

Wesley held the advantage over from the field and behind the three-point line shooting 36 percent (18-50) and 30.8 percent (4-13) respectively, as compared to Cabrini's 35.5 percent (22-62) and 21.7 percent (5-23).

Monshea Newsome-Murray and Sydney Pedersen led the Wesley scoring  with 11 points each. Newsome-Murray grabbed 11 boards for her second double-double of the season. Newsome-Murray also tallied a game-high seven assists, six steals and two blocks.

Lekeshia Brown-Myrick joined Newsome-Murray and Pedersen in scoring double-digits with 10 points of her own with four rebounds. Angelique Gathers added seven points off the bench.

Meghan Matthews led Cabrini with a game-high 20 points.

Wesley concludes their three-game conference homestand on Saturday, Feb. 9. when they host the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins. Tip off from Wentworth Gymnasium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
