Dover, Del. – The Wolverines' offense lit up the court Tuesday night, defeating Valley Forge 67-43. This marked their first win since December 13th against Cairn.
Angelique Gathers sparked the offensive flame with the first three pointer of the game. The team never lost sight of the victory as they protected their lead throughout the rest of the game. They went on to lead Valley Forge 21-11 at the end of the first quarter.
The Women's Basketball team kept up their outstanding offensive drive outscoring Valley Forge 20 points to eight by the end of the second quarter. They sank 60% of their three-point attempts while bucketing 53.3% of field goals during the offensive run.
As the third quarter came, Wesley picked up where they left off after the half outscoring Valley Forge 20 points to eight once again, this time sinking three three-pointers and shooting for 41.2% in field goal attempts.
The fourth quarter didn't showcase the Wolverines' offensive fire, but their defense held the Patriots off to snap their nine-game losing streak. The team improves their record to 6-15 on the season.
Angelique Gathers' 21 points and 12 rebounds earned her a double-double on the game. She's joined by Shervohnia Tolson's 12 points and 11 rebounds in the double-double barrage.
Jourdyn Beverly threw 14 points of her own on the board along with seven rebounds. The team as a whole had 70 rebounds in tonights victory.
The Women's Basketball team will look to bring their offensive fireworks to Marywood this Saturday at 1 p.m.
