Women's Lacrosse honors seniors prior to high-scoring game with Gwynedd Mercy

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's lacrosse team and the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins combined for 46 goals in 2019 regular season finale, but Wesley dropped the high-scoring contest, 25-21 to Atlantic East Conference rival Gwynedd Mercy. Prior to the game, Wesley honored seniors Taylor Speicher, Brianna Bacon, Paige Brehm and Fallon Fore for Senior Day.

Wesley trailed Gwynedd Mercy 12-7 at the half and got within two in the second half when Wesley went on a 4-1 scoring run with 13:07 left in regulation to cut the Gwynedd Mercy lead to 18-16. However, Gwynedd Mercy went on a 4-1 scoring run of their own during the next five minutes of the game and started to put the game out of reach of Wesley.

Paige Brehm led Wesley with six goals, six ground balls, six caused turnovers and five draw controls. Kaila Hindt registered five goals along with four assists, four ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Brianna Bacon notched a hat trick with three assists. Bacon also tallied four caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls. Kristen Fuhr, Kassie Dieter and Kathleen Martin each recorded a pair of goals while Emily Caldarelli chipped in with a goal.  Dieter added six draw controls, three assists, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Taylor Speicher scooped up three ground balls and caused a turnover. Maria Rowland made 11 saves in net, caused three turnovers and scooped up two ground balls.

Wesley finishes the 2019 season with a 5-9 overall record and 0-6 in the Atlantic East Conference.
